Equipment

  • Baking dish or sheet pan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Basting brush
  • Aluminum foil (optional, for easier cleanup)

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken thighs or 2 large chicken breasts boneless or bone-in
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch optional, for thickening sauce
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with aluminum foil.
  • Prepare the Sauce:
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, vinegar, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Coat the Chicken:
  • Place the chicken in the baking dish and pour the honey garlic sauce over it. Turn the chicken pieces to coat them evenly.
  • Bake the Chicken:
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the foil, baste the chicken with the sauce, and bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C) and the glaze is sticky and caramelized.
  • Thicken the Sauce (Optional):
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, transfer the pan juices to a small saucepan. Mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to make a slurry.
  • Heat the sauce over medium heat, stir in the slurry, and cook until thickened.
  • Serve:
  • Drizzle the sauce over the chicken and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  • Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables.
