  • Potato masher or hand mixer for mashing potatoes
  • Medium saucepan for heating peas
  • Spoon or spatula for mixing

Ingredients

  • For the Meatloaf:
  • 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup ketchup for topping
  • For the Mashed Potatoes:
  • 4 medium potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Peas:
  • 2 cups frozen peas
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Make the Meatloaf
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix until fully combined. Transfer the meatloaf mixture to a baking pan or loaf pan and shape it into a loaf. Spread ketchup on top for a flavorful glaze.
  • Bake the Meatloaf
  • Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and the top is slightly caramelized. Once done, remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  • Prepare the Mashed Potatoes
  • While the meatloaf is baking, place the cubed potatoes in a pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.
  • Cook the Peas
  • In a small saucepan, heat the frozen peas over medium heat. Add a tablespoon of butter and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the peas are heated through.
  • Assemble the Meal
  • Serve the sliced meatloaf alongside a generous portion of mashed potatoes and peas. You can drizzle extra gravy over the mashed potatoes or meatloaf if you’d like.
  • Enjoy!
  • Sit down and enjoy this classic comfort meal. It’s the perfect balance of savory, creamy, and tender, and it’s sure to please everyone at the table.
