Green Bean Casserole Recipe
This Green Bean Casserole is a classic comfort food dish, perfect for holidays, family gatherings, or any time you’re craving something creamy and delicious. With tender green beans, a creamy mushroom sauce, and a crispy onion topping, this dish is as easy to make as it is satisfying to eat.
- 1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans trimmed and cut in half or 4 cups frozen green beans
- 1 10.5 oz can cream of mushroom soup
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 1/3 cups crispy fried onions divided
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese optional
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare the Green Beans:
If using fresh green beans, boil them in salted water for 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp. Drain and set aside. If using frozen green beans, thaw and drain well.
Make the Sauce:
In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth.
Assemble the Casserole:
In a baking dish, combine the green beans, sauce mixture, and 2/3 cup of the crispy fried onions. If desired, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese for an extra cheesy casserole.
Add the Topping:
Spread the mixture evenly in the dish and top with the remaining crispy fried onions.
