Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Non-stick skillet or griddle
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Prepare the Batter:
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  • In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix—small lumps are okay.
  • Heat the Skillet:
  • Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil.
  • Cook the Pancakes:
  • Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Flip the pancakes and cook for another 2 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Serve Hot:
  • Stack the pancakes and serve immediately with your favorite toppings like butter, maple syrup, fresh fruit, or powdered sugar.
