Easy Homemade Pizza Recipe

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • Pizza stone or baking sheet

Ingredients
  

  • For the Dough:
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water 110°F/43°C
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • For the Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • For the Toppings:
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Your choice of toppings e.g., pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, etc.
  • Fresh basil optional

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Dough
  • In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the yeast becomes foamy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Make the Sauce
  • In a small bowl, mix together the tomato sauce, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
  • Preheat the Oven
  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
  • Shape the Dough
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into your desired shape and size, about 12 inches in diameter for a standard pizza.
  • Assemble the Pizza
  • Transfer the dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
  • Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Add your choice of toppings on top.
  • Bake the Pizza
  • Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve and Enjoy
