Step 1: Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
Drain the pasta and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
Step 2: Cook the Chicken
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Season the chicken strips with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
Step 3: Prepare the White Sauce
In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Sprinkle the flour into the skillet and whisk continuously for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
Gradually pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Cook the sauce for 3-4 minutes, or until it thickens.
Stir in the Parmesan cheese, nutmeg (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
Step 4: Combine the Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked pasta and chicken to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat the pasta and chicken evenly.
If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
Step 5: Serve
Garnish with extra Parmesan cheese and freshly chopped parsley, if desired.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
