  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk or regular milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • For the Cajun Butter Sauce optional:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Prepare the Fish:
  • Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture.
  • In a shallow dish, combine flour, Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour buttermilk into a separate shallow dish.
  • Dredge the Fish:
  • Dip each fish fillet into the buttermilk, coating it evenly.
  • Then dredge the fillet in the seasoned flour mixture, pressing lightly to ensure a thick coating.

  • Remove the fish from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  • Make the Cajun Butter Sauce (Optional):
  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Stir in the Cajun seasoning, lemon juice, and garlic powder.
  • Drizzle the sauce over the fried fish or serve it on the side.
  • Serve:
  • Plate the Cajun fried fish and garnish with fresh lemon wedges, if desired.
  • Serve with your favorite sides like rice, coleslaw, or a fresh salad.
