Mixing bowl
Knife
Cutting board
Ingredients:
For the Spaghetti:
4 oz spaghetti
1 cup marinara sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 clove garlic, minced
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
For the Sandwich:
8 slices of bread (sourdough or your favorite type)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
4 tablespoons butter, softened
1 tablespoon olive oil
Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
- Cook the Spaghetti:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the Spaghetti Filling:
- In a medium skillet heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the marinara sauce and cooked spaghetti to the skillet. Toss to coat the spaghetti evenly with the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Assemble the Sandwich:
- Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place 4 slices of bread buttered side down, on a cutting board or plate.
- Divide the spaghetti mixture evenly among the 4 slices of bread. Top each with shredded mozzarella cheese and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese.
- Place the remaining slices of bread on top of each sandwich buttered side up.
- Cook the Sandwich:
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a tablespoon of olive oil and spread it around.
- Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side. Use a spatula to press down gently on the sandwiches as they cook to ensure even browning and melting.
- Serve:
- Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool slightly. Cut each sandwich in half and serve immediately garnished with fresh basil leaves if desired.
