Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts trimmed and halved
  • 6 slices of bacon chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder optional
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar optional

Instructions

  • Prepare the Brussels Sprouts:
  • Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and cut them in half lengthwise. Remove any damaged outer leaves.
  • Cook the Bacon:
  • In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set it aside. Leave the bacon fat in the skillet for the next step.
  • Sauté the Brussels Sprouts:
  • In the same skillet with the bacon fat, add the halved Brussels sprouts. Sauté for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they’re golden brown and crispy around the edges. If needed, add a bit of olive oil to the pan.
  • Season the Brussels Sprouts:
  • Season the Brussels sprouts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using). Stir well to coat.
  • Combine Bacon and Brussels Sprouts:
  • Once the Brussels sprouts are nicely caramelized, add the crispy bacon back into the skillet. Stir everything together.
  • Optional: Add Balsamic Vinegar:
  • For a touch of acidity and extra flavor, drizzle the Brussels sprouts and bacon with a bit of balsamic vinegar. Stir well to combine.
  • Serve:
  • Transfer the Brussels sprouts and bacon to a serving dish and enjoy!
