These Beef and Onion Skewers are a savory, smoky, and delicious option for your next barbecue or quick weeknight dinner. Juicy, marinated beef pairs perfectly with sweet, caramelized onions to create a flavorful bite in every skewer. They’re easy to prepare and perfect for serving with rice, salad, or dipping sauces.
- 1 1/2 pounds beef sirloin or tenderloin cut into bite-sized cubes
- 2 large onions cut into chunks
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Salt to taste
- Optional: Fresh parsley or sesame seeds for garnish
Prepare the Marinade:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, garlic, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
Marinate the Beef:
Add the beef cubes to the marinade, ensuring they’re evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for maximum flavor.
Soak Skewers (if using wooden ones):
Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent them from burning during grilling.
Assemble the Skewers:
Alternate threading the marinated beef and onion chunks onto the skewers. Leave a small gap between pieces for even cooking.
Grill the Skewers:
Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, rotating occasionally, until the beef reaches your desired doneness and the onions are lightly charred.
Serve:
Transfer the skewers to a serving plate. Garnish with fresh parsley or sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot with your favorite sides or dipping sauces.
