Equipment

  • Skewers (wooden or metal)
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Grill or grill pan
  • Tongs

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds beef sirloin or tenderloin cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 2 large onions cut into chunks
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: Fresh parsley or sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Marinade:
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, garlic, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
  • Marinate the Beef:
  • Add the beef cubes to the marinade, ensuring they’re evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for maximum flavor.
  • Soak Skewers (if using wooden ones):
  • Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent them from burning during grilling.
  • Assemble the Skewers:
  • Alternate threading the marinated beef and onion chunks onto the skewers. Leave a small gap between pieces for even cooking.
  • Grill the Skewers:
  • Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  • Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, rotating occasionally, until the beef reaches your desired doneness and the onions are lightly charred.
  • Serve:
  • Transfer the skewers to a serving plate. Garnish with fresh parsley or sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot with your favorite sides or dipping sauces.
